My mom did that once: it was obvious she had intended to pay off the whole thing, so they were nice about it and just waived the finance charge. The question is... did your payment arrive before the auto-charge? You might just try explaining the whole deal about how you forgot. Sometimes they're nice, especially if you've been paying interest like a good little minion up to that point. In this case you could call and explain the situation.
