Illegal substances and depressions

Does anyone else find it curious that the prohibition of alcohol was intermingled with heavy illegal drinking, and the tail end of prohibition dovetailed with the beginning of the Great Depression?

Does anyone else look at the current economic climate, look back at the 30s, and wonder when drugs will be legalized?

    I don’t think drugs will be legalized in America in our lifetimes. Do you know how many people are employed by the War on Drugs?

    Well, if the options are World War III or legalized marijuana, I’ll take legalized marijuana, at least for the next 7 years. After that I think I’m no longer qualified for the special services draft. =]
